Subject-specific advice is organised on a departmental basis. In the Book Studies department Dr Volker Titel is the first point of contact for students with study-related questions. Dr Titel's office hours (during which no appointments are necessary) are published on the departmental website.

Students should make use of the subject-specific advisory service particularly in the following cases: at the beginning of the degree and after completing the orientation phase of the course; with questions about study plans, particularly in areas where the course of study is flexible; after failing courses which are prerequisites for future modules; before choosing a field of specialisation or making an important module choice; and in the event that the student wishes to change to a different module, degree course or university.

As well as the Book Studies department's advisory service, students can visit the Study Service Center of the Philosophical Faculty and the Theology Department. This can be found in the Dean's Office. The service provides support primarily with more general university-related issues.
