The many teaching and research activities at the Book Studies department in Erlangen lead to various publications in the field – from contributions to handbooks and subject reference texts, to pieces for magazines, all the way up to extensive research monographs.

The AGB, the Archiv für Geschichte des Buchwesens (Archive for the History of the Book), is one of the most important academic journals in the Book Studies field. Professor Ursula Rautenberg is its publisher, meaning that Erlangen is home to this leading publication, along with its supplementary monograph series, "Studien" ("Studies").

In 2003 the Erlangen department released the first issue of the very successful online series "Alles Buch". This provides a platform for the open access publication of peer-reviewed Book Studies texts and articles on the internet.
